     STEM Night September 27, 2018

Zapp! Children at Cowan Elementary had a hair raising experience at their STEM night on September 27th.  The Adventure Science Center's outreach program brought many STEM activities including one where children explored static electricity using a hand-crank Van Der Graaf Generator.
Cool! Wow! Awesome! These were a few of the words children used to describe the experience.  Gravity cars, moving molecules, snap circuits, robotic arms, fossils, cloud in a bottle, optical illusions and magnetic fluids were stations children explored with their families.  DREMC brought a display that taught children about electricity.  Carol Fulmer brought a hands on experience where children learned about recycling.
Special thanks goes to the chemistry club at the University of the South for providing volunteers to work the stations.  Members of FCHS STEM class helped out as well.   This was a perfect event to support one of the major focus areas of the Franklin County school system.  Students and their families were together learning about STEM.  It was a great night for all!
